Description
Pride of Baltimore II is a reproduction of a topsail schooner made famous in the War of 1812 as a privateer, a small warship built to raid commerce. This and other sailing vessels of this type were often referred to as "Baltimore Clippers". The first Pride of Baltimore was lost at sea in the Caribbean Sea in 1986 with the loss of 3 crew and the captain. The Pride of Baltimore II pictured here entering Cleveland Harbor on a goodwill tour was commissioned in 1988 and has sailed over 200,000 in its role as a goodwill ambassador for the State of Maryland.
