Artist's Description
WGCB # 35-01-02 Adams County, Ohio Built 1855 in 110 foot Multiple Kingpost Truss plus arch . Many do not know that the Civil War did come to Ohio. In 1863 2500 Confederate raiders under the command of John Hunt Morgan crossed into Ohio on a diversionary raid. Sometime during this month long raid they crossed this bridge pursued by Union Cavalry. Usually, they would burn the bridges after crossing to slow down the Union pursuers, but for some reason they left Harshaville bridge standing.

About Robert Gardner

I live in a small town in Ohio. I love to photograph old things, barns, houses, buildings, and bridges. I have been known to drive 200 miles to photograph a covered bridge. Most of my photography is in the rural areas of Ohio where I have lived all of my life.
