Black and White Version The Flagship Niagara is an accurate replica of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship from the War of 1812. The British were threatening the north of the United States across Lake Erie from Canada. The British fleet was sailing across Lake Erie near the Island of Put in Bay, they were met by the United States Fleet under the command of Oliver Hazard Perry. Perry engaged in a line exchanging broadsides with the British fleet. Soon Perrys Ship was unable to continue combat. Perry taking a longboat transferred to the Niagara and took command, cutting through the line of the British boats he fired broadside after broadside from both sides of the ship into the British. Soon the British ships surrendered, and the Battle of Lake Erie was over. HMS Bounty was an enlarged reconstruction of the original 1787 Royal Navy sailing ship HMS Bounty. Built for the movie Munity on the Bounty in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1960, It was nearly twice the size of the original build...
I live in a small town in Ohio. I love to photograph old things, barns, houses, buildings, and bridges. I have been known to drive 200 miles to photograph a covered bridge. Most of my photography is in the rural areas of Ohio where I have lived all of my life.
